(1.) Heb. atad, Judg. 9:14; traduzido “thorn,” Ps. 58:9. A LXX e a Vulgata traduzem por rhamnus, um arbusto espinhoso comum na Palestina, semelhante à espinheira. (2.) Heb. hoah, Isa. 34:13 (R.V. “thistles”); “thickets” em 1 Sam. 13:6; “thistles” em 2 Kings 14:9, 2 Chr. 25:18, Job 31:40; “thorns” em 2 Chr. 33:11, Cant. 2:2, Hos. 9:6. A palavra pode ser entendida como denotando o cardo comum, do qual existem muitas espécies que infestam os campos de cereais da Palestina. (Veja THORNS.)
